Q: How do I open my mechanical (dial) lock?

A: The traditional mechanical or dial lock has a 3 number combination. To open the lock, turn the dial to the LEFT stopping on the first number in the combination the FOURTH time around. Turn the dial to the RIGHT stopping on the second number the THIRD time. Turn the dial LEFT stopping on the third number the SECOND time around. Turn the dial slowly to the RIGHT until the bolt retracts. The dial will stop at 95.

Q: Can I change the combination on my mechanical (dial) lock?

A: The lock manufacturer requires that the combination be changed by a certified (ALOA or SAFTA) locksmith. A fax or email from the locksmith is required with the new combination for the warranty to be valid. Changing the combination yourself will void the warranty.

Q: How can I get the combination or code to open my Browning ProSteel Gun Safe?

A: In order to maintain security, you must provide the safe serial number, proof of ownership of the Browning ProSteel Gun Safe and complete a Master Reset Code (MRC) request. The serial number can usually be found on the top right hand corner of the back of the safe. Proof of purchase can be a sales receipt or a certified letter from the local law enforcement office. Please download the MRC Request Form and FAX it to the number indicated on the form. Download Form

Locks

Q: Why does my electronic lock only open 1 time out of several attempts?

A: The lock has entered the time out mode. Wait for 15 minutes and enter the code again.
